About the job
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead and execute the global marine fuel procurement strategy aligned with operational needs, budget targets, and environmental commitments.
Manage long-term contracts, spot purchases, and supplier partnerships to ensure cost-effective and reliable fuel supply worldwide.
Monitor global fuel markets and regulatory developments (IMO, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime) to inform sourcing strategies and pricing risk management.
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as Operations, Voyage Planning, Technical, Finance, and Legal to optimize procurement execution.
Drive the adoption of low- and zero-carbon fuels (e.g., biofuels, methanol, LNG) in line with company and customer decarbonization goals.
Ensure contractual and regulatory compliance, fuel quality assurance, and claim resolution.
Lead and develop a global team of fuel buyers, analysts, and coordinators; build capabilities and foster a culture of high performance.
Manage fuel budgets, track key procurement KPIs, and provide reporting to senior management.
Champion digitalization and continuous improvement through procurement platforms and data analytics tools.
Support in any ad hoc tasks as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
8–15 years of relevant experience in marine fuel procurement, shipping, or energy trading.
Proven expertise in the global marine fuel supply chain, including pricing, contracts, risk, and supplier management.
Strong understanding of shipping operations, especially in container shipping.
Demonstrated experience in people leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
Familiarity with decarbonization regulations and alternative marine fuels.
Proficiency in procurement tools and systems; knowledge of platforms like, Platts, or internal tools (e.g., Flamingo, Larissa) is advantageous.
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
