Demolition Engineer - 18 Months Contract - #1099056

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Demolition Engineer to lead and support the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant dismantling and demolition of an oil-fired 2 x 250MW steam turbine power plant.
The ideal candidate should have in-depth knowledge of power plant structures and systems, strong project management capabilities, and a proven track record in industrial demolition projects. This position involves overseeing planning, safety management, contractor coordination, and technical execution from initial assessment through site clearance by the Demolition Contractor
Your role:
1. Ensure planning and safe execution of the demolition works
a. Review detailed demolition plans and method statement/procedures for demolition of steam turbine power plant assets, including chimney, boilers, turbines, piping systems, and ancillary structures submitted by the “Demolition Contractor”
b. Conduct site assessments and structural evaluations to inform demolition strategy
2. Ensure compliance with local statutory and safety regulations (e.g. URA, BCA, MOM etc)
a. Monitor, track and follow up with the “Demolition Contractor” for statutory permits and approvals.
3. Cost and Quality Management
a. Collaborate with environmental engineers and contractors to manage disposal of hazardous materials such as asbestos, PCBs, and residual fuels if any as per local regulations.
b. Prepare engineering documentation, risk assessments, method statements, and technical reports.
c. Support salvage operations and recycling efforts for materials recovery.
4. Contractor and stakeholder management
a. Coordinate and supervise demolition contractors and internal teams.
b. Interface with demolition contractors, permitting agencies, and local authorities as required.
5. Ensure proper documentation of demolition progress
a. Prepare, update and maintain accurate documentation including photographic, videographic and written records
Your profile:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering (PE license will be a plus.)
Certified Demolition Engineer will be given preference.
10+ years of construction experience, out of which minimum 5+ years of experience in industrial or power plant demolition, decommissioning, or large-scale dismantling projects.
In-depth understanding of steam turbine power plant operations and components.
Familiarity with demolition technique and associated risks.
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and demolition best practices.
Experience with structural analysis tools, CAD software, will be an added advantage.
Excellent communication, organizational, presentation and leadership skills
Ability to work in high-risk environments with strict adherence to safety standards.
