Job Description:

A Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This includes estimating costs, preparing tender documents, evaluating project variations, managing project budgets, and ensuring that projects are completed within financial parameters and compliance standards.


Key Job Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Cost Estimation and Budgeting
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects based on architectural and engineering drawings.

  • Develop budgets and monitor actual costs against estimated costs.

  • Advise on cost-saving strategies without compromising quality.

2. Tendering and Procurement
  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.

  • Analyze tenders and recommend suitable contractors.

  • Evaluate and negotiate contract terms with suppliers and subcontractors.

3. Contract Management
  • Administer construction contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

  • Handle contractual claims, variations, and disputes.

  • Track progress claims, issue payment certificates, and manage final accounts.

4. Project Cost Control
  • Monitor project costs and provide regular financial reports to management.

  • Forecast and report on project financial performance.

  • Evaluate risk factors affecting cost and recommend mitigation strategies.

5. Site Coordination and Reporting
  • Collaborate with site engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure work aligns with financial expectations.

  • Attend site meetings and provide updates on cost-related matters.

  • Maintain accurate records of work done and materials used.

6. Legal and Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure all work complies with local building regulations and health and safety standards.

  • Keep up to date with construction laws and industry developments.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.

  • Knowledge of standard forms of contracts

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and QS software.

  • Strong numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

  • Minimum 3-4 years experience in a similar role
