Your Role:
Implement, and monitor strategies, policies and programs that promote sustainability development relating to environment protection and management and the ISO management systems
Implement regulations in force and corporate commitments made
Champion the relevance of prevailing environmental principles with objectives on the backdrop of business imperatives
Monitor areas that may require adjustment and recommend relevant monitoring strategies (e.g. air emission monitoring, greenhouse gas determination, trade effluent discharge, indoor air quality, thermal plume tracking, and waste management)
Implement and monitor internal and external capacity building program
Implement and effectively enforce the ISO 14001 EMS
Advise and oversee all environmental related matters
Prepare the company to be ready for the regulatory change after review consultations are carried out with Management on the on the material impacts and opportunities to the business
Liaise with relevant divisions to build up an early warning system against impact of material concerns
Implement sustainable monitoring measures to avoid potential breach of environmental compliance
Ensure corporate compliance with environmental legislation and lenders’ requirements in environmental due diligence, liaising with relevant authorities on environmental issues
Collate and analyse performance trend from monthly data collection and determine warning alarm level to trigger more proactive actions
Establish internal communication channel with duty officers (shift manager, team leader, security sergeant) for quick reporting of incidents and to institute appropriate control measures
Maintain cordial bilateral working relationships and seek resolution on matters affecting business operation with the authorities
Implement ISO Management Systems 140001 to ensure alignment to the Integrated Management System (IMS) embracing all the ISO Management Systems that include ISO 9001, ISO 50001, ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 management systems
Conduct environmental awareness lecture for new employee’s induction course.
Support the review all level 2 manuals and procedures at least once every 3 years.
Support the review of IMS procedures upon change in regulations or business processes
Work with Management Representative of ISO 14001 management systems to ensure effectiveness of the ISO management system
Conduct internal audits on the ISO management system
Support Management Representative of ISO 14001 management systems on internal and external audit schedule
Support Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Pollution Control Study (PCS) and Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) during major projects which will include air dispersion modelling, effluent thermal plume modelling, noise monitoring etc
Project corporate social responsible citizenship and build rapport with the community
Execute community engagement program (including national education program, teacher/student internship and community involvement program) based on budget provision
Promote Senoko community engagement program in adopted schools, polytechnics, universities, government agencies, customers and appropriate forum/interested public.
Explore collaborative projects with agencies and schools to promote Senoko brand
Support marketing and customer retention activities on environmental initiatives
Spearhead internal sustainability/ESG efforts/initiatives and support sustainability/ESG reporting including external events
Manage daily disposal of general wastes and weekly pest control
Manage daily clearing general wastes from the station
Engage contractors to provide all services
Ensure compliance to Local Regulation
Water and Energy Conservation and resources optimization
Review utilities consumption and strive to minimize costs on Electricity, Water and Gas Supplies, and consumption
Recommend measures to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the facility
Maintain an aggressive energy and water conservation program
Promote Water and Energy Conservation
Contractors’ management, supervision and control
Supervise all outsourced works done by the contractors
Conduct safety toolbox meeting daily and briefings with on-site team/ contractors to follow-up and report on the progress to anticipate any possible delays and initiate corrective action to avoid delays
Conduct regular safety inspection of the workplace for potential hazards, assess the risks, implement mitigation measure for safety; report potential injuries, accidents and hazards etc
Contribute to the evaluation of environmental services tender returns to ensure full compliance with all specifications
Liaise meetings with contractors, consultants, and other key personnel for environmental services work
Assist with establishing supplier/ subcontractor performance management systems. Perform regular assessment evaluation of contract / contractor’s performance for high work quality delivered
Manage contractors to ensure compliance / specification and requirements
Drive continuous improvement initiatives
Implement approved continuous improvement initiatives to improve time, cost and quality management
Recommend opportunities to use the latest facilities management trends or technologies
Your Profile:
Diploma in Chemical / Environmental Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 3-7 years’ experience in technical environment and disciplines preferably in the power industry
Strong interest in environmental management, environmental issues and climate change
Familiar with local environmental regulations and recognised international environmental standards
Understanding of combustion processes specifically exhaust gas air emissions and able to analyse technical reports
Contract and Contractors’ management and supervision
Knowledge in applicable Acts/Regulations and compliance
WSH rules and risk regulation, environment and security compliance.
Enforcement of Permit-to-Work and control
Competent in handling chemical/oil spill response, safe handling of natural gas, confined space, work-at-height, earthwork requirements, business continuity etc
Good command of spoken and written English is essential to produce environmental reports.
The offered job grade/designation will be based on candidate’s experience, competencies and skillsets
