Local Cross-Category Buyer - #1173932

Objectives of the Position

Cross-category buyers are the local hands-on partners. They focus on demand below 30k€ and work in close collaboration with the category and strategic buyers. They are the one focal point in the country for business stakeholders – the person who connects local demand with the right global expertise. They are also focal point for local 3rd party negotiation and any related questions to external spending with suppliers.

Job Responsibilities: -

• Execute category strategies locally and manage local categories up to a predefined threshold
• Operate in a cross-category setup ensuring compliance to multiple category strategies
• Ensure implementation and compliance to local specificities and feed back to category strategies
• Run tenders for locally executed categories and ensure contract coverage and compliance locally
• Maintain local market intelligence and develop local supplier base/relationships
• Drive local negotiations and cost reduction programs; ensure alignment to category direction
• Act as interface between local stakeholders and global category management
• Identify and deliver site cost reduction opportunities (quick wins, bundling, standardization)

Job Requirements: -

• Have bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred, but no hard cut off for candidates
• Have at least 2-5 years of working experience in BASF – preferably in AP and commercial roles or background (e.g. Marketing, Supply Chain)
• Professional knowledge in commercial topics preferred
• Fitting mindset for procurement roles incl. stakeholder management & negotiations
