AML/KYC Specialist (1.5 Line of Defence) – Private Banking - 6 months contract (convertible to Permanent)

We are seeking an experienced AML/KYC Specialist to join a Private Banking environment, supporting client onboarding, periodic reviews and ongoing AML/KYC compliance.

This role operates within a 1.5 Line of Defence function, working closely with Front Office, Relationship Managers and Compliance to independently review client due diligence assessments, identify financial crime risks and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct independent reviews of KYC/CDD assessments, including Source of Wealth (SOW) and Source of Funds (SOF) corroboration for High-Net-Worth (HNW) and Ultra-High-Net-Worth (UHNW) clients.

• Review client onboarding, periodic KYC reviews and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) cases to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Assess client risk profiles, including PEP exposure, adverse media, sanctions risks and complex beneficial ownership structures.

• Review and challenge KYC assessments submitted by Front Office, identifying documentation gaps, inconsistencies and potential AML/CFT risks.

• Partner closely with Relationship Managers and Compliance to resolve KYC deficiencies, provide guidance and recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures.

• Review changes in client circumstances, including ownership structures, beneficial owners and authorised signatories.

• Review transaction monitoring alerts, investigate unusual activities and escalate suspicious transactions where necessary.

• Support AML/KYC remediation initiatives, management reporting, internal audits and process improvements.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of AML/KYC, CDD/EDD or financial crime compliance experience, preferably with at least 2–3 years in Private Banking or Wealth Management.

• Strong hands-on experience in SOW/SOF assessments and corroboration, including wealth accumulation analysis and supporting documentation reviews.

• Experience in independent KYC reviews, AML risk assessments or first/1.5-line control functions.

• Good understanding of MAS AML/CFT regulations and Private Banking compliance requirements.

• Familiarity with complex HNW/UHNW client structures, including corporate ownership, trusts and investment holdings.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify compliance gaps, challenge risk assessments and recommend practical solutions.

• Excellent stakeholder management skills, particularly in working with Relationship Managers, Front Office and Compliance teams.

• CAMS or ICA AML certification would be an advantage.

This is a 6 months contract to start, renewable and convertible to permanent.
