1. Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Factory Production Manager to oversee and manage the overall production operations of a food manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for production planning, manpower allocation, manufacturing workflow, quality control coordination, inventory utilisation, equipment management, cost control, and compliance with food safety and workplace safety requirements.

The candidate must have at least five years of relevant experience in food manufacturing, food processing, factory production, or a similar manufacturing environment. The role requires practical knowledge of large-scale food production, production scheduling, staff supervision, process improvement, and resource management to ensure production targets are achieved efficiently while maintaining product quality and safety standards.

No formal educational qualification is required; relevant industry experience, practical production management skills, and demonstrated leadership ability are essential.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Factory Production Management

  • Plan, organise, supervise, and control daily factory production activities in accordance with production schedules and business requirements.

  • Develop production plans based on customer orders, demand forecasts, available manpower, raw materials, and equipment capacity.

  • Monitor manufacturing operations to ensure production targets, deadlines, and output requirements are achieved.

  • Coordinate production activities across food preparation, cooking, processing, packing, and finished goods handling.

  • Establish and implement standard operating procedures to improve production consistency and operational efficiency.

  • Identify production bottlenecks, delays, and process inefficiencies and implement appropriate corrective measures.

  • Ensure production activities are carried out according to approved specifications and operational procedures.

B. Production Planning and Scheduling

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules according to order requirements and available resources.

  • Allocate production quantities, manpower, equipment, and workstations to meet scheduled output targets.

  • Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials, ingredients, and packaging supplies.

  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules when there are material shortages, equipment breakdowns, or changes in customer requirements.

  • Track planned versus actual production output and investigate discrepancies.

  • Coordinate with sales, logistics, and warehouse personnel to meet order fulfilment and delivery commitments.

C. Manpower and Workforce Management

  • Determine manpower requirements based on production volume and factory operating schedules.

  • Supervise production supervisors, team leaders, machine operators, food preparation workers, and packing personnel.

  • Allocate duties, monitor attendance, and coordinate staff deployment across production lines.

  • Train employees on production procedures, equipment operation, workplace safety, and quality standards.

  • Monitor staff productivity and implement measures to improve workforce efficiency.

  • Conduct performance reviews and address operational or disciplinary issues in accordance with company policies.

  • Promote teamwork, accountability, workplace discipline, and effective communication.

D. Food Safety and Quality Management

  • Ensure production operations comply with applicable Singapore Food Agency (SFA) requirements and the factory's food safety procedures.

  • Coordinate with quality assurance personnel to maintain product specifications and established quality standards.

  • Monitor food handling, processing, cooking, cooling, storage, and packaging procedures.

  • Ensure appropriate temperature monitoring, hygiene practices, sanitation, and contamination prevention measures.

  • Oversee the handling of non-conforming products, production defects, customer complaints, and corrective actions.

  • Ensure production batch records, traceability documentation, and inspection records are maintained accurately.

  • Support internal audits, food safety inspections, and regulatory inspections when required.

E. Raw Materials and Inventory Control

  • Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to maintain adequate raw material and packaging stock.

  • Monitor material consumption, stock levels, wastage, and production yield.

  • Ensure proper storage, labelling, stock rotation, and handling of raw materials and finished products.

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies, material shortages, and excessive consumption.

  • Implement measures to minimise spoilage, overproduction, rejected batches, and unnecessary material losses.

  • Review inventory usage against production requirements and recommend improvements to stock management.

F. Machinery and Equipment Management

  • Oversee the utilisation of food processing machinery, industrial cooking equipment, production lines, and packaging equipment.

  • Coordinate routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance schedules.

  • Monitor equipment performance and production downtime.

  • Work with maintenance personnel to address machinery breakdowns and operational defects.

  • Ensure machinery is operated according to approved procedures and workplace safety requirements.

  • Recommend equipment upgrades or process improvements where they can improve productivity and reduce operating costs.

G. Cost Control and Operational Efficiency

  • Monitor production costs, labour utilisation, material consumption, energy usage, and manufacturing wastage.

  • Review production efficiency, output per shift, downtime, and rejection rates.

  • Implement cost-saving measures without compromising food safety or product quality.

  • Investigate excessive production costs and recommend corrective actions.

  • Monitor production performance against operational budgets and targets.

  • Prepare reports on production costs, resource utilisation, productivity, and operational performance.

H. Workplace Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure factory employees follow applicable workplace safety requirements and established operating procedures.

  • Identify operational hazards and implement appropriate risk-control measures.

  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment and safe machinery-handling practices.

  • Monitor housekeeping, cleanliness, and safe storage of materials within production areas.

  • Report workplace incidents, equipment hazards, and unsafe practices to management.

  • Coordinate staff training and corrective measures to improve workplace safety.

I. Production Reporting and Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare daily and periodic reports on production output, manpower, material consumption, downtime, wastage, and product rejection.

  • Analyse production data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Establish performance indicators for output, productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve manufacturing processes and resource utilisation.

  • Coordinate with management and other departments to resolve operational issues.

  • Recommend improvements to production procedures, workflow, equipment utilisation, and factory capacity planning.

3. Job Requirements

  1. Educational Qualification: No formal educational qualification is required.

  2. Work Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in factory production management, food manufacturing, food processing, or a related manufacturing environment.

  3. Production Management: Demonstrated experience in planning, supervising, and coordinating manufacturing operations.

  4. Leadership Skills: Ability to supervise production teams, allocate manpower, and manage daily factory activities.

  5. Technical Knowledge: Practical understanding of production processes, machinery utilisation, workflow management, and preventive maintenance coordination.

  6. Quality and Food Safety: Familiarity with food production hygiene, quality standards, traceability, and applicable food safety procedures.

  7. Inventory Management: Ability to control raw material usage, monitor production yield, and reduce wastage.

  8. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify production issues, investigate root causes, and implement practical solutions.

  9. Communication Skills: Ability to coordinate effectively with production, procurement, warehouse, quality assurance, maintenance, and management teams.

  10. Work Commitment: Ability to work according to factory production schedules and operational requirements.
