Join the FundsCore Recon Platform team at Grab - a dynamic team building a reliable platform to address challenging problems in the Payments domain. We are a team of engineers, designers, product managers, and operations who innovate and collaborate to solve one of the most challenging problems - enabling accurate reconciliation with many financial partners. This role prefers you have certain Payments domain expertise or demonstrate quick-learning skills.

Get to Know the Role

You will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining one of our Payments Core ( FundsCore) platforms which includes complex backend systems and data pipelines to meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

You will contribute to our Operational Excellence and mentoring juniors in the team. You will report to an Engineering Manager II and work onsite at Grab One-North office in Singapore.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable software applications that meet business and non-functional requirements
• Write clean, efficient, testable, and maintainable code to solve challenging problems in the Fintech domain
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality, ensure proper technical documentation, and facilitate knowledge sharing
• Troubleshoot and debug complex issues, providing fixes and implementing long-term sustainable solutions
• Contribute to architectural decisions and the technical direction of projects
• Ensure system reliability and availability through observability practices and drive continuous improvements in Operational Excellence; participate in On-Call rotations is mandatory
• Provide DevOps support to the team to ensure system health and performance
• Mentor junior engineers and interns, encouraging a culture of learning and improvement
• Stay current with latest industry trends and technologies; leverage Generative AI tools to enhance productivity and improve system capabilities

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures
• Address not only happy path scenarios but also handle edge cases and unhappy paths effectively
• 4+ years of relevant software development experience with proficiency in one or more major programming languages such as Golang (preferred), Java, or demonstrated ability to quickly acquire necessary technical skills
• Experience with clean architecture principles, data-driven application design, and large-scale data processing
• Proven experience building large-scale distributed systems utilizing DBMS, caching solutions, NoSQL databases, and application servers (RESTful and gRPC) while ensuring data consistency
• Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, cloud platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services), and DevOps practices
• Operational and compliance excellence – ability to implement solutions that meet requirements for Observability, SLAs, Security, Data Governance, and Regulatory compliance
• Write efficient, extensible, and thoroughly tested code for complex projects, selecting appropriate abstractions that follow SOLID principles
• Write effective design documents and maintain up-to-date documentation (e.g., runbooks)
• Demonstrated experience with learning new technologies and business domains, with experience applying Generative AI to enhance work productivity;
• Experience in the Payments domain (e.g., settlement and reconciliation)
