About the role
Premium Automobiles is seeking a dedicated and skilled Technician (Roadside Assistance) to join our dynamic team in the East Region. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our commitment to providing swift and reliable automotive support to our customers. As a Roadside Assistance Technician, you will be the first point of contact for stranded motorists, delivering prompt technical solutions and exceptional customer service in the field. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence and ensuring customer satisfaction during their time of need.
What you'll be doing
Respond promptly to roadside assistance calls and attend to vehicles in distress.
Diagnose and troubleshoot common automotive faults and mechanical issues on-site.
Perform emergency repairs and temporary fixes to enable vehicles to return to operational status or reach the service centre.
Conduct routine roadside maintenance tasks including tyre changes, battery replacements, jump starts and fluid top-ups.
Document all service calls accurately, including fault descriptions, work performed and parts used.
Maintain detailed records of vehicle conditions and customer interactions for quality assurance purposes.
Provide professional and courteous customer service whilst liaising with customers during breakdown incidents.
Operate and maintain roadside assistance equipment and tools in optimal working condition.
Liaise with workshops regarding vehicle recovery and further repairs.
Adhere to health and safety protocols and traffic regulations at all times whilst working on roadsides.
Other duties as and when assigned.
What we're looking for
A recognised automotive technician qualification or equivalent technical certification in automotive mechanics
Proven experience of at least 2–3 years working as an automotive technician or in roadside assistance roles
Sound knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems and brake assemblies
Competency in diagnosing and resolving common automotive faults efficiently and safely
A valid Class 3 driving licence with a clean driving record
Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work under pressure in challenging conditions
Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach to service delivery
The ability to work independently and make sound decisions whilst responding to emergencies
Familiarity with computerised diagnostic tools and basic IT competency
Able to commit to rotating to work both day and night shift duties (morning 8am to 7pm or night 7pm to 8am)
Working Hours: (24 hours/break into shifts)
Morning shift 8am to 7pm – standby at company
Night shift 7pm to 8am – standby at home
