About the role
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) processes to ensure high product quality, yield, and manufacturing efficiency. This role involves hands-on process setup, troubleshooting AOI equipment, data analysis, and continuous improvement activities to support mass production and new product introduction.
Key responsibilities
Define, develop, and optimize AOI recipes and inspection parameters for new and existing products
Establish AOI process control plans to ensure defect detection accuracy and minimize false calls
Analyze AOI performance data and drive corrective actions to improve detection capability and consistency
Provide real-time technical support to production teams for AOI-related issues
Troubleshoot and resolve AOI equipment alarms, image quality, and software performance problems
Work closely with operators and maintenance teams to ensure stable AOI operation and uptime
Coordinate with equipment vendors for preventive maintenance, calibration, and upgrades
Manage AOI software revisions, backup, and recipe database
Prepare and maintain process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and training materials
Conduct AOI process and defect classification training for operators and technicians
About you
Bachelor's degree in engineering
Minimum 2 years in manufacturing or process engineering, preferably in AOI or optical inspection
Experience with AOI systems (e.g., Camtek, Orbotech, CyberOptics, or customized vision systems)
Strong understanding of imaging principles, lighting, optics, and pattern recognition
Proficient in data analysis using Excel, Python, or statistical tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab)
Knowledge of MES systems and automated inspection data integration
Familiarity with defect image classification using AI/ML tools
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Experience in semiconductor wafer, PCB, or optical component manufacturing
Strong teamwork spirit, sense of responsibility, result-oriented mindset, and practical work ethic
