As a Head of Department (Special Education - SPED), you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Lead the design, implementation, and review of curriculum, pedagogical practices, and assessment strategies for students with diverse learning needs.

• Ensure instructional programs are inclusive, differentiated, and responsive to varying learner profiles.

• Collaborate with allied professionals (e.g., therapists, psychologists) and families to monitor student progress and tailor support strategies.

• Oversee the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure their effective implementation.

• Design and lead programs that promote students’ character development, resilience, and social-emotional well-being.

• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.

• Foster professional learning communities and support teacher growth through coaching, mentorship, and performance evaluation.

• Lead inter-departmental or cross-functional teams in the execution of school-wide initiatives and strategic projects related to special needs education.

• Oversee communication strategies and develop materials to support engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

• Support recruitment, onboarding, and induction of staff within the department.

• Participate in broader school and organisation-wide programs and duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or other relevant qualifications.

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, including at least 2 years in a Senior Teacher role.

• Experience working with persons with disabilities is an added advantage.
