Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and troubleshoot software for Automated Test Equipment (ATE) used in semiconductor wafer testing. The successful candidate will be responsible for C# application development, software integration with hardware components, and root cause analysis across complex systems.

A key responsibility is to independently investigate machine issues involving third-party chuck control software, establish technical evidence through software diagnostics and system analysis, and determine whether failures originate from the application, hardware interface, or external vendor software.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain C# software applications for semiconductor ATE wafer test systems.

• Design and implement software interfaces between ATE, wafer prober/chuck, instruments and factory automation systems.

• Perform software debugging, troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production issues.

• Develop diagnostic tools, logging functions and trace utilities to improve software reliability.

• Analyze communication between application software and chuck/prober controllers using logs, APIs and communication protocols.

• Identify whether issues originate from internally developed software, hardware interfaces, or third-party chuck software.

• Generate technical reports with supporting evidence to demonstrate root cause findings for internal teams and external vendors.

• Collaborate with equipment, process and manufacturing engineers to resolve production issues.

• Support software validation, regression testing and system qualification.

• Improve software architecture, maintainability and performance.

• Participate in new equipment integration and software commissioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

• At least 5 years of software development experience.

• Strong proficiency in C# and .NET Framework/.NET.

• Experience developing software for semiconductor equipment, ATE, wafer prober, handlers or automation systems.

• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in complex hardware-software integrated systems.

• Experience with multithreading, asynchronous programming and performance optimization.

• Experience communicating with hardware through TCP/IP, Serial, Ethernet, SECS/GEM, or equipment APIs.

• Familiar with source control tools such as Git.

• Experience developing diagnostic tools, software logging and trace analysis.

• Ability to work independently with minimal vendor support.

• Knowledge in silicon photonics, optical testing, or photonic devices will be an added advantage.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

• Comfortable working in cross-functional and fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Advantest, Teradyne or other semiconductor ATE platforms.

• Experience integrating wafer prober/chuck control software.

• Knowledge of semiconductor wafer testing workflow.

• Experience with Windows application development (WPF or WinForms).

• Understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
