The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, operational performance, financial management, business development and regulatory compliance of the company. The GM ensures that all projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while driving sustainable business growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement the company's strategic plans and business objectives.
Build long-term business relationships with clients, consultants, government agencies, and key stakeholders.
Lead the organisation towards continuous growth and operational excellence.
2. Operations Management
Provide overall leadership for all operational departments including (Admin, HR, Finance, Facilities, Procurement, Contracts, Project Management, etc.)
Ensure projects are completed safely.
Ensure projects meet contractual deadlines.
Monitor productivity and resource allocation.
Resolve project risks and disputes.
Improve operational efficiency.
3. Project Performance
· Monitor company-wide project performance by ensuring budget control, progress monitoring, cash flow management, etc.
4. Financial Management
· Work closely with the Finance Department to review budgets, monitor P&L, collectability of receivables, control operating expenses, improve company profitability, etc.
5. Human Resource Leadership
Lead and mentor department heads.
Build a high-performance culture.
Promote employee engagement and retention.
6. Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health Act (Singapore), Employment Act, MOM regulations, BCA requirements and ISO Management Systems.
7. Risk Management
Identify and mitigate risks relating to safety, commercial disputes, project delays, labour shortages, regulatory compliance, cash flow, etc.
8. Business Development
Liaise and follow up with clients on ongoing and upcoming projects.
Identify and establish communication with new/existing clients on upcoming projects.
Communicate to stakeholders on current market pricing.
Participate in tender/bid process.
Experience
At least 8 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry.
Minimum 8 years in a senior management or leadership role.
Strong understanding of Singapore construction regulations.
Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline is advantageous.
