Youth Worker (Secondary School)

Up to $35/hour | Approximately 30 hours/week | 3-Month Contract (Extendable) | Bedok / East |

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of youths? We are looking for a dedicated Youth Worker to provide holistic support to secondary school students with additional needs through mentoring, casework, and student engagement initiatives.

Purpose of the Role

You will work closely with the school's Case Management Team to support identified Secondary 1 to Secondary 4 students who require additional guidance. Through relationship-building, mentoring, and targeted interventions, you will help strengthen students' resilience, enhance their connection to school, and support their overall social and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide holistic casework support for identified secondary school students with additional needs.

• Deliver after-school support through academic assistance and interest-based engagement programmes.

• Mentor students to build their emotional resilience, social-emotional competencies, and essential life skills.

• Foster a psychologically safe and supportive environment by serving as a positive adult role model.

• Encourage positive values, appropriate social behaviours, and healthy decision-making among students.

• Collaborate closely with teachers and the school's Case Management Team by providing regular updates on students' progress and recommending appropriate intervention strategies.

• Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student intervention programmes as required.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences, Youth Work, or a related discipline.

• Preferably at least 3 years of experience in youth work, social work, counselling, or student intervention within schools or community organisations.

• Passionate about working with youths and supporting students with diverse needs.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.

• Able to manage complex student cases with professionalism, empathy, and resilience.

• Collaborative, culturally sensitive, resourceful, and emotionally stable.

Working Hours (Approx. 30 hours/week)

• Monday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

• Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

• Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

• Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

• Friday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Additional Information

• No work is required on Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted public holidays, designated school closure periods, Home-Based Learning (HBL) days, and selected school event days.

• Contract extension may be offered based on operational requirements and performance.
