Summary
The Assistant Manager, Technical Services supports the Manager / Head of Technical Services in overseeing daily data center technical operations, maintenance coordination, incident response, vendor supervision, project support, safety compliance, and team coordination.
The role ensures that critical facilities systems, including electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire protection, monitoring, and related infrastructure, are operated and maintained safely, reliably, and efficiently to support 24/7 availability, SLA requirements, and customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
Technical Operations
Support the daily operation of critical data center infrastructure, including power, UPS, generators, switchgear, cooling, fire protection, monitoring, and facilities systems.
Monitor system performance, alarms, equipment abnormalities, maintenance status, and operational risks.
Ensure proper shift handover, standby readiness, incident reporting, escalation, and follow-up actions.
Assist in tracking uptime, SLA performance, recurring issues, defects, and improvement opportunities.
Maintenance and Vendor Coordination
Coordinate preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance activities for critical facilities systems.
Review maintenance schedules, checklists, service reports, test records, and completion status.
Follow up on defects, recurring faults, spare parts requirements, outstanding works, and corrective actions.
Supervise contractors and vendors to ensure works are completed safely, properly, and on schedule.
Monitor vendor response, maintenance quality, service performance, and contract compliance.
Team Supervision
Supervise engineers, technicians, contractors, and vendors during daily operations, maintenance, and project activities.
Assign tasks, monitor work progress, and provide guidance or on-the-job support where required.
Assist in manpower deployment, duty roster planning, standby arrangements, and training needs.
Promote a safety-first, accountable, and high-reliability work culture.
Incident Response and Risk Control
Act as the first-level escalation point for technical incidents, equipment alarms, abnormalities, and service-impacting issues.
Support troubleshooting, service recovery, incident communication, and escalation to management where required.
Assist in root cause analysis, incident reporting, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Support emergency response drills, disaster recovery testing, business continuity activities, and risk mitigation plans.
Project and Compliance Support
Support infrastructure upgrades, fit-out works, equipment replacement, expansion projects, and improvement initiatives.
Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, vendors, and customers during project execution.
Assist in reviewing drawings, method statements, risk assessments, work schedules, testing procedures, and commissioning documents.
Ensure operations, maintenance, and project works comply with company procedures, customer requirements, local regulations, industry standards, and site safety rules.
Maintain accurate records for maintenance, incidents, inspections, permits, testing, assets, drawings, and technical reports.
Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, Building Services, or related discipline.
Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in data center facilities, critical facilities, building services, or technical operations.
At least 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience in a 24/7 mission-critical environment would be preferred.
Good technical knowledge of power systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, cooling systems, fire protection systems, monitoring systems, and facilities equipment.
Good understanding of maintenance planning, incident response, troubleshooting, risk assessment, permit-to-work, and SLA requirements.
Experience supervising technicians, contractors, vendors, and maintenance service providers.
Good leadership, coordination, communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
Able to work under pressure and respond effectively during incidents in a 24/7 operational environment.
CDCP, CDCS, safety certification, or equivalent professional certification would be an advantage.
Key Performance Expectations
Support reliable 24/7 data center operations and achievement of uptime and SLA targets.
Ensure maintenance, incidents, defects, risks, and project activities are followed up promptly.
Maintain proper documentation, safety compliance, vendor performance, and operational discipline.
