About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) to support Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) operations within a marine and shipyard environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving safety initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing risk control measures, and promoting a strong safety culture across projects and vessel operations.
Key Responsibilities
Organize and conduct EHS kick-off meetings prior to vessel arrivals.
Support the implementation, review, and continuous improvement of the company's Safety Management System.
Monitor and control workplace hazards before work commencement.
Perform Hot Work and Hazardous Work certifications.
Coordinate Permit-to-Work (PTW) system implementation and compliance.
Coordinate deployment of Confined Space Attendants and Fire Watch personnel.
Maintain project-related EHS documentation and records.
Update vessel safety coordination boards and monitor onboard safety activities.
Inspect and coordinate firefighting and rescue equipment deployed onboard vessels.
Drive project EHS plans, accident prevention programs, and risk management initiatives.
Conduct incident, accident, and near-miss investigations and recommend corrective actions.
Enforce compliance with Workplace Safety & Health regulations and company safety requirements.
Participate in safety audits, inspections, toolbox meetings, and safety campaigns.
Support project teams in fostering a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, Engineering, or related discipline.
Registered MOM Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) is mandatory.
Preferably 5 years of EHS experience within construction, marine, shipyard, oil & gas, or heavy industrial environments.
Good knowledge of Workplace Safety & Health Act and Shipbuilding & Ship Repair Regulations.
Experience with Permit-to-Work (PTW), risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
Hot Work Assessor and/or Confined Space Assessor certifications will be an added advantage.
