As a Head of Department (Optometry), you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Deliver advanced optometry services, including complex refractions, biometry, specialized diagnostic procedures, and the use of advanced clinical equipment.

• Ensure high standards of clinical quality, patient safety, and service excellence across all optometry services in compliance with hospital policies and professional guidelines.

• Oversee the daily operations and service delivery of supplementary primary eye care clinics, community and home eye screening services, and diabetic retinopathy photography services to ensure efficient and patient-centered care.

• Lead clinical practice improvement, quality assurance, and evidence-based initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and patient outcomes.

• Develop, review, and implement clinical protocols, workflows, and service strategies aligned with departmental and hospital objectives.

• Manage manpower planning, staff deployment, and operational resources to ensure optimal service coverage and productivity.

• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate optometry staff through performance management, coaching, and professional development initiatives.

• Manage departmental budgets, procurement activities, and equipment planning to support sustainable operations and service growth.

Requirements:

• Degree in Optometry from recognized institution

• Possess 7 to 10 years of relevant optometry experience with demonstrated clinical competencies

• At least 3 to 4 years experience in supervisory or leadership roles
