What You'll Do

As the Lead Automation & Robotics Engineer, you will spearhead automation initiatives from concept to implementation while providing technical leadership across robotics, controls, and smart manufacturing technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement automation architectures, standards, and best practices across robotics, PLCs, motion control, safety systems, and industrial networks.

  • Lead the programming, integration, and commissioning of industrial and collaborative robots (ABB, Fanuc, UR, KUKA), including vision systems, drives, and HMI interfaces.

  • Translate operational requirements into effective automation strategies, functional specifications, and performance objectives.

  • Manage automation projects throughout the full lifecycle, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.

  • Collaborate with vendors, system integrators, and contractors to ensure successful FAT/SAT execution and seamless project handover.

  • Utilize simulation and offline programming tools such as ABB RobotStudio and FANUC ROBOGUIDE to optimize robotic cell design and cycle times.

  • Design and commission Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 control systems, including motion control, EtherCAT networks, TwinSAFE, and IEC 61131-3 programming.

  • Conduct system validation and qualification activities while ensuring compliance with documentation and quality requirements.

  • Analyze automation performance using key manufacturing metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, efficiency, and productivity.

  • Develop preventive maintenance strategies, software governance processes, and operator training programs to ensure long-term system sustainability.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, EHS, Maintenance, and IT to ensure safe, secure, and compliant operations.

  • Mentor engineers and technicians while championing automation and robotics best practices across the organization.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Automation Engineering

  • 5 years of experience delivering industrial automation and robotics projects from design through commissioning.

  • Hands-on experience programming and integrating industrial robots such as ABB, Fanuc, Universal Robots, or KUKA.

  • Strong expertise in PLCs, industrial control systems, and Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 platforms.

  • Proven experience managing automation projects, vendors, and FAT/SAT activities.

  • Knowledge of process qualification and validation methodologies (IQ/OQ/PQ).

  • Experience integrating vision systems, motion control solutions, and machine safety systems.

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java for automation interfaces and data integration.

  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or Siemens NX is advantageous.
