About the role

We are seeking a skilled CMM Technician / Programmer to join the engineering team at SMARTT PRECISION MFG PTE LTD. in the Changi East Region. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in ensuring the precision and quality of our manufactured components. As a CMM Technician / Programmer, you will be responsible for operating, programming, and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) equipment to verify component dimensions and tolerances against engineering specifications. This role is essential to maintaining our commitment to excellence in precision manufacturing and supporting our customers' quality standards.

Key responsibilities

1. Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to measure and inspect precision-engineered components

2. Develop and create accurate CMM programs for both new and repeat parts, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings and specifications

3. Verify component dimensions, tolerances, and geometric characteristics against design requirements and quality standards

4. Conduct first-article inspections and in-process quality checks to identify non-conformances and deviations

5. Analyse measurement data and generate comprehensive inspection reports documenting results and findings

6. Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions

7. Maintain CMM equipment through routine calibration, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting

8. Document and maintain accurate records of inspection data, calibration certificates, and quality metrics

9. Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the optimisation of measurement processes

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), with proficiency in CMM software and measurement techniques

2. Strong understanding of mechanical tolerances, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and engineering drawings

3. Technical qualification or certification in precision measurement, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline

4. Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools and equipment, such as micrometres, callippers, and gauges

5. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to tight tolerances and high quality standards

6. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyse measurement data accurately

7. Proficiency in documenting and reporting quality data and inspection results

8. Knowledge of quality management systems and standards such as ISO 9001 or AS9100 is advantageous

9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

10. Good communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with engineering and production staff
