Job Summary
The jobholder supports the Assistant Director (Career Development) and HOD to lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of employment and employability initiatives under the Career Development, with a focus on career transition and progression across different life stages. This includes supporting fresh graduates, early jobbers, and mid-career professionals within the Malay/Muslim community to access opportunities in growth and evergreen sectors.
The jobholder oversees programmes and initiatives that equip jobseekers with relevant skills, networks, and career pathways, while driving partnerships with industry stakeholders to strengthen employment outcomes and lifelong career development for the community.
The jobholder is expected to work from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and may be required to work over weekends and public holidays to support organisational events. Although the role is largely office-based, occasional travel for meetings and programme visits is expected.
Key Responsibility Areas
Strategic and Partnership Management
a. Support Assistant Director ( Career Development) and HOD to drive MENDAKI’s Employment and Employability strategies, with a focus on career transition pathways for fresh graduates, early jobbers, and mid-career professionals.
b. Build and maintain strong partnerships with employers, industry associations, training providers, and national agencies to identify job opportunities and co-develop career pathways.
c. Develop and scale initiatives that support early career progression, job placement, and mid-career transitions, aligned to sectoral workforce needs.
d. Represent the department in inter-agency or M3+ platforms, and contribute to FA4 initiatives to strengthen ecosystem collaboration.
e. Work closely with internal teams (e.g. Communications, Partnerships, and Lifelong Learning teams) to align outreach, engagement, and programme delivery.
f. Identify and pursue new collaboration and funding opportunities to enhance career transition support and employability outcomes for the community.
Programme Development and Management
a. Oversee the design, execution, and evaluation of career transition programmes for targeted segments, including:
i. Fresh graduates entering the workforce,
ii. Early jobbers navigating career progression,
iii. Mid-career professionals seeking career transitions.
b. Lead the planning and delivery of structured programmes such as workshops, career clinics, mentoring, and placement initiatives.
c. Support the development of career transition pathways, including job matching, skills upgrading recommendations, and industry exposure opportunities.
d. Work with partners to deliver programmes and initiatives such as attachments, and industry-led workshops.
e. Conduct outreach and engagement activities to drive awareness and participation in Career Development programmes.
f. Track and evaluate programme outcomes, including placement rates, retention, and participant engagement, and provide insights for continuous improvement.
g. Prepare submit monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reports, including grant reporting and data submissions required by stakeholders.
h. Ensure proper documentation, compliance, and reporting for all funded programmes and initiatives.
Team Leadership and Management
a. Support the Assistant Director and HOD in managing the Career Transition team and ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
b. Set goals and performance standards for direct reports and provide regular coaching and feedback.
c. Mentor, motivate team members and support their professional development and capability building.
d. Manage the implementation budget plans to manage resource allocations to department’s programmes.
e. Monitor department budget outcomes to ensure proper utilisation and accounting of resources.
f. Work closely with other team leads within the Lifelong Learning and FA4 ecosystem to ensure integrated support for the community.
Requirements
a. Relevant degree from a recognised institution preferred.
b. 5–7 years of relevant experience in career development, employment facilitation, or workforce engagement.
c. Supervisory experience required.
d. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage stakeholders across different levels.
e. Meticulous and detail oriented.
f. Possess strong leadership skills and sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.
g. Able to work independently and within a team.
h. Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
