EHS Officer - Key Responsibilities
1. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
Ensure compliance with Fire Safety & Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act and relevant regulations.
Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g., SCDF, MOM in Singapore) on safety and fire safety matters.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure legal compliance.
Maintain safety documentation, records, and reporting requirements.
2. Risk Management
Identify workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments.
Implement control measures to eliminate or reduce risks.
Review risk assessments periodically and after incidents or changes in operations.
Ensure safe work procedures (SWPs) are developed and followed.
3. Incident Management
Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses.
Analyse root causes and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
Prepare incident reports and ensure timely submission to authorities.
Monitor implementation of corrective measures.
4. Safety Programs & Training
Develop and implement safety training programs and toolbox meetings.
Conduct safety briefings, inductions, and awareness campaigns.
Promote a strong safety culture among employees, contractors, and visitors.
Ensure all personnel are trained and competent for their roles.
5. Workplace Inspections & Monitoring
Conduct routine site inspections to identify unsafe practices or conditions.
Monitor contractor safety performance.
Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Oversee maintenance of safety equipment and emergency systems.
6. Emergency Preparedness
Develop and implement emergency response plans (ERP).
Conduct and coordinate drills (fire, evacuation, spill response, etc.).
Ensure availability and accessibility of emergency equipment.
7. Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Prepare safety reports, KPIs, and statistics.
Recommend improvements to policies and procedures.
Support management in achieving safety performance targets.
Lead safety committees or participate as a key member.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
· Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO)
· Registered Fire Safety Manager (FSM)
· Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience (industry-dependent).
· Certification in Safety courses (e.g., WSH Officer Course, NEBOSH, or equivalent).
