Process Senior Engineer (Metrology Backend) - #1160021

Purpose

As a Metrology/Backend (MTBE) Process Engineer is responsible for process setup, control, and improvement, ensuring process operational efficiency, quality, and cost efficiency. He/she performs troubleshooting on production line issues as and when they arise. The Process Engineer records and reports on issues, updates documentation and standard operating procedures. He/she may also be tasked to be responsible for training and development of peers or fellow colleagues, as well as safety and housekeeping with the objective of ensuring smooth and efficient business operations within department guidelines and corporate policies. Where required the Process Engineer is also expected to work on process development or technology transfer tasks between manufacturing sites

You are also expected to work in/lead a team (cross-functional or otherwise) to improve any number of process performance indicators such as Yield, Throughput, or Cost.

Roles & Responsibilities

Process Setup and Control

• Propose initial process parameter settings, process control, production recipe verification, and process flow understanding; Coordinate/carry out process evaluation; Judge and confirm final setting In order to ensure proper equipment parameter setting and process output

Operational support and efficiency

• Take ownership of process(es) and sustain process operational efficiency; Perform process analysis and propose technical solution to resolve line issue;

• Design, execute and manage DoE activities to support product yield enhancement and process WPH improvement works; Perform data analysis and interpretation of DoE conducted, evaluate and implement improvement actions.

• Investigate and analyze root cause of all process problems; Implement and evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions; Advise/propose preventive solutions

• Responsibilities to process qualification of Inspection and Metrology equipment to ensure smooth manufacturing ramping.

Documentation, Standard Operating Procedures, & Reports

• Prepare specifications, workflow, quality and safety related documentation; Monitor and optimize current procedures and propose necessary changes or improvements

• Review, validate and analyze reports. Write, review, validate and analyze reports; Review documentation on all shift related events and activities

• Participate in global key equipment exchange to improve and align strategy and plans

Process & Cost efficiency improvement

• Analyze trend and propose areas of improvement; Lead/participate/manage project workgroups; Coordinate evaluation and implementation activities with relevant parties; Make judgment on new applications

• Expected to involve actively in yield improvement, cost reduction, optimisation of new machine qualification release plan and cycle time reduction projects

Training and development

• Train/mentor Technicians and Engineers through OJT and continually upgrade their technical skills to cope with technological changes

Quality & Safety

• Analyze trend, propose areas of quality improvement; Coordinate evaluation and implementation with relevant parties; Make judgment on effectiveness of activities

• Proposed enhancements to safety measures and procedures; Conduct audits to ensure proper housekeeping and compliance of safety regulations; Instill discipline in work practices and habits.

Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering or Physics with minimum 4 years of relevant experience or Diploma with 7 years of relevant experience as a tool owner

• Hands-on experience with Metrology (Film thickness Ellipsometry & KLA WS2), Inspection (KLA Surfscan & Macro Inspection), thickness sorting tool & data analysis tools(JMP & Klarity Defects). In-depth application & recipe creation experience is an added advantage.

• Excellent understanding of operations within the company and skilled in supplier management

• Driven in root cause analysis techniques to lead and troubleshoot complex problems and provide root-cause fixes to improve tool/process improvement in a semiconductor manufacturing context

• Knowledge of semiconductor Inspection/Metrology equipment and understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC), MSA, process control and its reaction mechanism

• Good documentation skills with strong attention to details

• Validated strong analytical and data summary skills
