Engineer/Senior Engineer, Yield Enhancement - #1133550

Position Overview

The incumbent will support the development and measurement of optical communication products in alignment with the company’s mission and goals. This role focuses on identifying, developing, and implementing solutions to eliminate root causes of yield loss across fabrication and assembly processes, while leveraging predictive analytics to improve overall yield performance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Optical Interposer products with emphasis on yield and performance optimization.

• Drive yield enhancement and defect-reduction initiatives across various optical engine designs.

• Perform data analysis, problem characterization, and root-cause fault isolation for yield-related issues.

• Define and document failure modes, material impact, and fallout percentages to support corrective actions.

• Monitor, track, and present yield data from POET’s fabrication partners in a structured manner.

• Develop and implement checklists, guidelines, and “lessons learned” documentation to support continuous yield improvement.

• Conduct yield correlation and failure analysis (electrical, optical, physical).

• Assist with additional engineering tasks as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in reliability engineering and failure analysis, preferably in optoelectronics manufacturing.

• Strong foundation in semiconductor physics, engineering fundamentals, and reliability testing.

• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and thermal failure modes.

• Proficiency in statistical modeling and data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, MATLAB, Python).

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Effective communication with internal stakeholders.

• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and operate decisively in dynamic environments.
