The jobholder (2 year contract) The jobholder supports the Future Ready department in its efforts to help youth in post-secondary education become resilient and future ready. The jobholder is responsible for the youth engagement and mentoring efforts at the ITE colleges.
The jobholder may be required to work over weekends, weeknights and public holidays to support events and activities, and will be based in our Youth Space centre in one of the ITE colleges.
The jobholder is expected to work from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and may be required to work over weekends and public holidays to support organisation events. Although the jobholder is largely expected to work in an indoor environment, occasional travel for meetings and programme visits is expected.
Key Responsibility Areas
Strategic and Partnership Management
a. Keep abreast of education and youth issues and trends in the community.
b. Work with schools and partners to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to youth outreach and engagement.
c. Support the department in identifying and networking with potential and existing community partners.
d. Collaborate with ITE partners, community agencies, and volunteers for the
e. Engage ITE Student Development Officers, ITE Class Advisors, counsellors, and partners to coordinate Youth Space operations, mentoring programmes, and student referrals.
Youth Space Operations
a. Manage day to day operations of assigned Youth Space@ITE centre with 2 other officers.
b. Lead the organisation of resources, manpower and collaterals for the successful delivery of services in centre.
c. Evaluate the effectiveness of centre activities and services through the collection and analysis of feedback.
Youth Mentoring
a. Provide one-to-one and group mentoring to students, focusing on social-emotional development, study motivation, and personal growth.
b. Conduct the #amPowered@ITE mentoring programme either within classroom settings or at the Youth Space centre.
c. Develop mentoring action plans to mitigate student issues, track progress, and ensure timely follow-up.
d. Maintain professional boundaries and apply youth engagement best practices to build rapport and trust.
e. Engage mentees and mentors pre, during and post mentoring session.
f. Manage databases of mentors and mentees enrolled into the programmes.
g. Evaluate effectiveness of mentoring sessions and programmes through the collection and analysis of feedback.
Financial Planning and Management
a. Assist in the department’s forecasting and budgeting activities for Youth Space operations.
b. Implement budget plans to manage resource allocations to department’s programmes.
c. Monitor budget outcomes to ensure proper utilisation and accounting of resources.
Others
a. Update and generate departmental progress reports for updates to the management.
b. Prepare reports on Youth Space operations and engagement for management and stakeholders.
c. Any other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director (AD) and HOD.
Requirements
a. Degree in relevant fields preferred.
b. 2 – 3 years of experience in programme management, mentoring or youth engagement preferred. Senior EO role can be considered for candidates with longer work experience.
c. Good understanding of youth, education, and employment landscapes.
d. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage stakeholders across different levels.
e. Able to communicate persuasively.
f. Able to engage with youths.
g. Team leadership skills.
