Job Description:
1. Leadership & Team Management
Lead, manage, and mentor QA, QC, and cross-functional teams, including close collaboration with Production
Assign tasks based on competency, experience, and operational needs
Set and monitor KPIs for QA and QC teams
Build and sustain a strong food safety and quality culture across all departments
2. Planning, Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
Plan QA and QC activities to support efficient Production operations
Monitor quality-related costs, including rework, wastage, disposal, testing, manpower, and packaging.
Identify and evaluate alternative solutions to reduce costs while maintaining food safety and quality compliance.
Work with Production, Warehouse, and Finance teams to implement cost-effective quality controls.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, defects, and non-conformities.
3. Training & Competency Development (QA, QC & Production)
Plan, conduct, and provide training for QA, QC, and Production teams.
Develop annual training plans covering GMP, HACCP, CCP/OPRP, hygiene, allergen control, food defense, and food fraud.
Educate Production teams on quality requirements, root cause prevention, and proper handling practices.
Assess training effectiveness and maintain training and competency records.
4. Food Safety Management System (FSMS)
Establish, maintain, and continuously improve the Food Safety Management System (FSSC / ISO/MUIS Halal/SFA export).
Ensure effective implementation of SOPs and work instructions across Production.
Lead hazard analysis, risk assessment, validation, and verification activities.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
5. Audit & Compliance Management
Lead internal audits and external audits (FSSC, ISO, Halal, regulatory, customer).
Act as the main audit contact and ensure timely closure of non-conformities.
Monitor audit trends and implement preventive actions.
6. Food Safety Team Leader & Incident Management
Act as Food Safety Team Leader.
Lead investigations and decision-making during food safety incidents, deviations, and recalls.
Manage product recall and mock recall exercises, ensuring traceability and readiness.
7. Laboratory Testing & Quality Monitoring
Monitor, and review laboratory testing programmed for raw materials, in-process, finished goods, environmental, and waste materials where applicable.
Evaluate test results and trends to support quality, food safety, and cost-effective decision-making.
Liaise with internal and external laboratories to ensure testing compliance and optimisation of testing costs.
Ensure timely corrective actions for out-of-specification or abnormal results.
8. Documentation & Cross-Functional Support
Ensure proper documentation control, record keeping, and data integrity.
Support Production and R&D in trials, process changes, and new product development.
Participate in management review meetings and provide quality performance reports.
9. Inspection & Internal Audit (Production, warehouse, external building)
Plan, conduct, and oversee routine inspections and internal audits
Production processes and operations
Internal production areas (processing, packing, storage)
External production-related areas (loading bays, external storage,)
Verify compliance with GMP, hygiene, food safety, and quality requirements.
Identify gaps, non-conformities, and risks, and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.
Coach Production teams on inspection findings and audit readiness
Job Requirement:
Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or related discipline
FSSC 22000/ISO 22000 internal auditor certified.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in QA/QC or Food Safety within food manufacturing with FSSC/ISO 22000.
Proven experience leading QA/QC teams and working closely with Production
Strong knowledge of FSSC 22000 / ISO 22000 / HACCP / GMP/MUIS HALAL
Hands-on experience in internal & external audits, production inspections, and compliance management
Experience acting as Food Safety Team Leader, including recall and incident handling
Able to plan and conduct training for QA, QC, and Production teams
