The Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SGC) is one of the largest business chambers in Singapore, with members spanning a wide range of industries and businesses from both Germany and Singapore. As part of a global network of 150 German Chambers of Industry and Commerce in 93 countries, the SGC plays a central role in fostering bilateral trade and economic collaboration between Germany and Singapore, providing valuable support to businesses from both nations.

We are currently looking for a Senior Consultant to join our team in the Trade Promotion Department “DEinternational”.

DEinternational is the business services and consulting arm of SGC. The team serves clients in their business needs through business matchings, organising corporate events, trade missions and business trips, market studies and market entry consultancy. Our clients and projects span across a multitude of industries.

Responsibilities:

·        Serving German & Singapore Companies / Providing business Information through  initial consultations

·        On standard inquiries on tax, customs, business environment, company setup etc.

·        Acquisition of Market Entry Services on the German and Singaporean market:

·        Preparation of individual proposals and cost calculations for market studies, business matchings etc.

·        Preparation of tender documents for publicly funded trade promotion projects

Execution of Market Entry Services:

·        Completing client-specific market research to determine product/service potential in the Singaporean market and developing tailored market entry strategies

·        Client specific research to seek potential distribution partners within Singapore or the region

·        Planning of business trips for clients interested in meeting with potential collaboration partners

Project Management:

·        Planning, preparation and execution of conferences and workshops, as well as industry-specific business missions and projects funded by federal institutions

·        Compiling of comprehensive market studies

·        Performance of administrative duties (invoicing, reporting, and filing)

·        Other tasks

·        Marketing for projects, incl. updates on webpage, newsletter and social media on projects (DEinternational)

·        Supporting day-to-day team operations, incl. adherence and development of internal SOPs, trainee onboarding

Trade and Investment Agency in Singapore and Southeast Asia for individual German federal state(s)

·        Continuous screening of the Singaporean and Southeast Asian market for opportunities (for expansion for German companies, as well as for potential FDI interest into the federal state)

·        Carrying out projects on behalf of the federal state, incl. political visits and business missions (to Southeast Asia and to Germany)

·        First point of contact for companies from the federal state, as well as Southeast Asian companies, government institutions and agencies

·        Promotion and marketing on behalf of the federal state

Required Qualifications and Skills:

·        1-3 years of relevant work experience in trade promotion

·        Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

·        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·        Fluency in German and thorough understanding of German (business) culture is mandatory as you will be required to prepare reports and documents in German and will be in constant contact with German speaking clients

·        Fluent in verbal and written English, as you will be required to communicate with Singaporean and international clients and business partners as well.

·        Excellent writing skills

·        Excellent organisation skills

·        Team player, hands-on work style, service oriented, diligent

·        Eager to learn and interested in various industry topics
