We are seeking an experienced 2nd Wok to assist the Masterchef in delivering authentic, high-quality Chinese cuisine in a fast-paced club kitchen environment. This role requires precision, speed, and strong culinary expertise in wok cooking.
Key ResponsibilitiesCooking & Preparation
Prepare, cook, and plate high-volume Chinese wok dishes according to standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and quality for all dishes.
Station Management
Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked wok station before and during service.
Ensure all ingredients and equipment are ready for peak service periods.
Food Safety & Hygiene
Monitor food temperatures, freshness, and portion control to minimize waste.
Adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
Operational Support
Assist the Head Wok Chef with tasks such as receiving and storing supplies.
Support overall kitchen flow and efficiency during busy service hours.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants to ensure smooth operations.
Communicate promptly about equipment issues or food safety concerns.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience in a Chinese or seafood restaurant kitchen, specifically at the wok station.
Strong culinary skills and mastery of Chinese wok cooking techniques.
Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment such as a hotel or club.
Solid understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
Adaptability, discipline, and a passion for continuous learning.
Willingness to work long or split shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
