The Network Engineer assists in the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure. Responsibilities include managing network IP addresses, communicating network requirements to facilitate host connectivity, and installing, upgrading, and maintaining network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, wireless controllers, and servers.

Job Description & Responsibilities

Job scope : Role & responsibilities in brief

 •              Implement and manage core firewalls (Fortigate, PaloAlto, Checkpoint) and intrusion detection/protection systems.

 •              Configure site-to-site VPNs on FortiGate firewalls and manage HA redundancy setups.

 •              Set up WAN/LAN interfaces, NAT policies, and firewall rules for secure connectivity.

 •              Implement static and dynamic routing within firewalls.

 •              Utilize FortiGate’s application control to filter unwanted applications.

 •              Configure virtual IPs (VIP) and port forwarding for external access.

 •              Configure and maintain routers and switches (CISCO, Alcatel) for optimal performance.

 •              Administer and support campus-wide network infrastructure for continuous connectivity.

 •              Perform firmware/OS upgrades on network devices for security and feature enhancements.

 •              Optimize network performance, troubleshoot issues, and analyze traffic patterns.

 •              Enforce firewall rules and security settings to protect against cyber threats.

 •              Configure and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches for efficient traffic management.

•              Ensure structured cabling, routing, and networking solutions using CISCO, Juniper, and Alcatel equipment.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in IT, Engineering, or Computer Science.

• Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer.

• Possess Industry-standard certification, such as (CCNP), NSE or equivalent.

• Proficiency in Windows applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, FTP, TFTP, etc.

• Knowledge and hands-on experience with LAN/WAN technologies.

• Strong understanding of Layer 2 & Layer 3 technologies, including VLANs and HSRP, with experience on Alcatel and Cisco switches.

• Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Customer-oriented with the ability to manage challenging situations and a drive to improve customer experience.

• Practical experience in administration and troubleshooting of firewalls (Palo Alto and Check Point) and F5 Load Balancer.

• Previous working experience in an SOE (Standard Operating Environment) environment is preferred.
