Make a difference as Sr. Food Scientist, Yogurt Product Development
As Sr. Food Scientist – Yogurt Product Development, you will lead innovation and execution in the yogurt and alternative dairy categories. You will develop and optimize fermented dairy and plant-based yogurt formulations, applying deep technical expertise to deliver impactful product solutions for Ingredion’s global customers. This role blends scientific rigor, creativity, and collaboration across global R&D and commercial teams to drive new product breakthroughs.
What you will do :
Lead product development initiatives in the yogurt category, partnering with Marketing, Regional Technical Services, and customers to deliver innovative and differentiated solutions.
Translate customer needs and market insights into technical concepts and formulations that drive commercial success.
Design and optimize yogurt and alternative dairy formulations in lab and pilot environments, ensuring functionality, stability, and manufacturability.
Conduct experiments, analyze data, and evaluate structure–function relationships to improve product performance.
Serve as the subject matter expert for yogurt applications, providing scientific guidance, troubleshooting support, and commercialization expertise.
Evaluate new ingredients, technologies, and formulation systems to enhance texture, mouthfeel, and nutritional value.
Lead project planning, manage timelines and deliverables, and communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
Coordinate sensory testing, analytical measurements, and shelf-life evaluations with cross-functional teams (Sensory, Rheology, Texture).
Support pilot-to-plant scale-up and customer trials to ensure successful commercialization.
Maintain accurate experimental documentation and ensure compliance with global food labeling and regulatory requirements.
Stay up to date on yogurt innovation, processing technologies, and market trends to inspire new product opportunities.
Represent Ingredion at internal and external technical forums, trainings, and conferences.
What you will bring :
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in yogurt product development, including dairy and plant-based systems.
Proven record of taking products from concept to commercialization, with strong pilot and plant-scale experience.
Deep understanding of fermentation, formulation chemistry, ingredient interactions, and process optimization.
Strong analytical and experimental design skills, with the ability to interpret technical data.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder influence.
Willingness to travel up to 20% globally for customer visits, trials, and industry events.
