Job Purpose:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Librarian to support the school’s literacy and learning goals by managing the library as an inclusive, engaging, and resource-rich environment.
The role involves promoting reading enjoyment, developing age- and ability-appropriate literacy experiences, managing data and resources effectively, and supporting teachers in using library and digital materials to enhance learning for students with diverse needs while keeping the library space well-maintained and accessible to students and staff.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Library & Digital Transformation:
Manage daily library operations, including book loans, toy loans, inventory and upkeep of the library.
Cataloguing of books according to genre and functions.
Implement and maintain digital library systems and e-resources.
Develop engaging displays and interactive learning experiences.
Facilitate educational activities related to the library exhibits.
2. Reading & Learning Support:
Curate and maintain a diverse collection of books and learning materials.
Maintaining the inventory & housekeeping of a Toy Library.
Work with teachers to support reading programmes and research projects.
Conduct library orientation sessions for students and staff.
3. Data & Resource Management:
Manage the budget, procurement, and resource allocation for the library.
Ensure proper cataloguing, maintenance, and organisation of books and exhibits.
Explore partnerships to enhance library resources and programmes.
Collect, consolidate and maintain accurate school data to support the school with data-driven decision-making for teaching, learning and operations.
Present data insights in clear, visual formats (e.g., charts, infographics, summaries).
Job Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Library & Information Management, Information Studies, or equivalent.
Good communication and collaboration skills.
Strong organisational, interpersonal and IT skills.
Experience in schools or working with children with intellectual disabilities and/or autism is highly advantageous.
Sensitivity and patience in supporting students with diverse learning needs
Experience using library management systems and data analytics tools.
Knowledge of children’s literature and literacy development.
Knowledge of library systems and digital resources.
Knowledge of MOE-SPED literacy and curriculum frameworks.
