Job Responsibilities:
Interpret and translate customer instructions into clear internal work instructions, ensuring alignment with quotations, specifications and referenced standards.
Provide technical input to the Sales Administration Department to ensure accurate scoping of quotations and work orders.
Liaise with customers to clarify test requirements, provide technical advice, and address queries related to sample preparation, testing methods, and turnaround times.
Coordinate job scheduling between the Workshop and Test Departments, ensuring timely prioritization and readiness of samples.
Support process improvements by reviewing SOPs and contributing to training and development initiatives for junior staff and workshop teams.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in a laboratory operating under ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
Strong understanding of metallic materials, alloy specifications, and chemical compositions (e.g., steel, stainless steel, nickel, cobalt, aluminium, titanium).
Knowledge of welding processes, welding consumables, and material properties in industrial applications.
Strong technical foundation in materials engineering and analytical testing techniques.
Good communication and relationship -building skills with both internal teams and customers.
Ability to explain technical topics clearly and provide effective recommendations.
Certifications such as CWI or CSWIP 3.1, and PCN Level 2 in Visual Inspection will be advantageous.
