The Assistant Manager oversees workers to ensure completion of all painting and coating-related activities, including surface preparation, and mixing and applying various types of marine-grade primers and paints. He/She monitors assigned tasks, ensures tasks are appropriately staffed and supervised to meet schedules, budget and client requirements.
Responsibilities
· Assist in crane barge mooring operation.
· Perform risk assessment of the surroundings to ensure that the loading/unloading operations can be carried out safely.
· Perform daily and weekly inspection on the crane as required to ensure that it is ready and safe for operations.
· Ensure that all safe work procedures and safety regulations are adhered to during lifting operations.
· Ensure the quality of work, proper material application, and compliance with regulatory requirements
· Collaborate with other shipyard personnel, including welders, fabricators, and supervisors, to coordinate painting activities and meet project timelines
· Review daily work progress and make necessary changes to meet production objectives
· Plan and conduct daily toolbox meetings with the team before work commences to communicate job hazards, safety measures

· Supervise workers for appropriate use of materials, production techniques and compliance with work instructions and Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements
· Ensure housekeeping and safe working conditions in work area
· Identify training needs and assist in developing workers’ skills
Requirements and skills
· Registered Crane Operator License from Singapore's Ministry of Manpower, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in a shipyard.
· NITEC/ Diploma in Marine, Mechanical or related field
· Advantageous to have competency in lifting operations. The candidate should be capable of developing, reviewing, and approving lifting plans. Furthermore, they must possess strong physical site operation skills to oversee complex lifts safely.
· A valid Lifting Supervisor certificate or an equivalent recognized qualification an advantage.
· Strong knowledge of marine coatings and painting material
· Minimum 5 years of experience in ship repair or shipbuilding, including at least 3 years in supervisory capacity
· A team player with good leadership and effective communication skills
· Familiarity with painting equipment such as spray guns, compressors, airless sprayers
