Jobscope

• Perform routine and specialized microbiological tests on clinical specimens such as blood, urine, stool, sputum, swabs, and tissue samples to identify bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic pathogens.

• Prepare, inoculate, and examine culture media for the growth, isolation, and identification of microorganisms using biochemical, serological, and molecular methods.

• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments and automated analyzers (e.g., MALDI-TOF, BACTEC, PCR systems) to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.

• Conduct antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) and report findings to support appropriate clinical treatment decisions.

• Implement and monitor quality control and assurance programs in accordance with laboratory accreditation standards (e.g., ISO 15189).

• Document, validate, and review laboratory results promptly and accurately in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

• Maintain strict adherence to biosafety and infection control protocols, including proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.

• Support epidemiological surveillance and outbreak investigations by tracking and reporting notifiable pathogens.

• Participate in staff competency training, equipment validation, and method verification exercises.

• Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in diagnostic microbiology.
