Senior System Engineer / System Specialist (Linux) (Ref 24210) - #1120475

Responsibilities

• To perform installation, maintenance and monitoring of Solaris, AIX, Linux, Windows Servers, http web servers, J2EE application servers, MS-IIS, MQ and Crystal Report servers. 

• To support daily operations of the production application systems including duty  rostering supports, health monitoring, monthly reports, OS and security patching, recover system failures, troubleshoot failure root causes, and periodically security assessments and enhancements. 

• To work closely with project application development teams and external vendors to ensure the successful implementation of new projects and systems service requests. 

• To embrace new technologies such as Cloud, containers, etc. for new systems/projects 

• To assist DBAs in troubleshooting JDBC related issues at J2EE application servers. 

 Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in IT or equivalent experience

• Knowledge and working experience of Linux, preferably 2+ years hands-on experience in system administration for production systems. 

• Experience in OS patching and upgrade, system security, OS virtualisation, HA/clustering, replication, backup and recovery techniques. 

• Working experience in networking (TCP/IP), physical hardware and/or storage systems. 

• Knowledge and hands-on experience of Unix (Solaris or AIX or other Unix) will be advantageous. 

• Able to work independently.
