Veolia

Join Veolia Singapore as a Commercial Manager and become a key partner at the heart of our operations. This goes beyond a standard contract administration role; you will be the commercial guardian for our crucial hazardous waste treatment and disposal services business. You will also provide expert contract management for a variety of high-value procurement contracts essential to our business and projects across Singapore.

In this position, you will work closely with our sales, legal, finance and operations teams to help grow our business, mitigate risk, and maximise profitability. If you are a proactive and commercially astute professional ready to make a significant impact on our ecological transformation mission, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Lifecycle Management: Provide expert support throughout all contract stages, including initial business development engagement, tender, execution, renewal, warranty, and close-out.

  • Risk & Opportunity Management: Support in structuring/developing new commercial offers. Proactively identify, analyze, and manage contractual risks and opportunities within the appropriate commercial framework. Develop and implement mitigation strategies and maintain a comprehensive risk/opportunity register.

  • Contract Administration: Establish and manage tools for tracking contractual obligations, rights, deliverables, and key dates to ensure timely compliance and execution.

  • Drafting & Negotiation: In collaboration with the sales, operations and legal departments, assist in assessing contractual setups, and drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contract terms.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for contractual correspondence. Draft and review communications with clients, partners, and subcontractors.

  • Performance Monitoring: Track contract performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and manage any resulting penalties, deductions, or liquidated damages.

  • Claim Management: Prepare and respond to contractual claims, ensuring all necessary documentation is meticulously maintained to support the company's position.

  • Collaboration: Liaise effectively with Legal, Finance, Insurance, and Procurement departments to ensure a cohesive approach to contract management.

  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all contractual documentation is properly stored and contribute to "lessons learned" reports to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven 5-8 years' experience in a dedicated contract management, or commercial role. Prior experience in environmental services, hazardous waste management, oil & gas, construction, engineering, or industrial operations is highly advantageous.

  • A degree in Law, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of contract law, claims management, and risk analysis.

  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with a keen eye for detail. Good proficiency in written English.

  • Proficient in managing stakeholder relationships and working collaboratively in a team environment. Financial acumen with experience in budget analysis and invoice review.

  • Willingness to learn and understand the technical aspects of underlying operations required to support the role.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and synthesis skills.

Additional information:

  • Safety is a core value at Veolia, and a precondition for employment. You are expected to uphold the Veolia Always Safe rules and set an example to all colleagues in your daily work routine.

  • Ethics and compliance are two areas where our rules and our standards are strictly non-negotiable. You are expected to stick to ethics and compliance rules and standards which ultimately mean doing your job properly and conducting our business like true professionals, whatever our missions and our place in the Group.

Notes:

  • Due to Employment Pass quota issue, incumbents without the need for Employment Pass application will be prioritised for the recruitment.

  • As this role's internal customers are located in the Tuas View Circuit office, the incumbent must be willing to work in the Tuas office and occasionally the Science Park office.

  • Company transport is provided at Boon Lay MRT and Choa Chu Kang MRT.
