Purpose and Scope
Lead operations of an Energy from Waste (EfW) plant. Ensure safe, reliable incineration, optimize steam generation, and uphold regulatory, environmental, and security standards. Drive team performance, efficiency, and sustainability in a 24/7 operations environment.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Lead and oversee all daily EfW operational activities to ensure they are conducted efficiently and safely: Waste nomination planning, waste bunker management, incineration, steam generation, ash handling.
Ensure safe and reliable steam export as per customer agreement.
Oversee compliance with NEA, MOM, SCDF, and PUB regulations. Monitor and enforce adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards, as well as company policies.
Environmental Compliance: Monitor stack emissions, CO₂e intensity, ash/residue handling, wastewater, noise, and dust. Ensure full compliance with all authority requirements.
Security Management: Lead site security operations – access control, CCTV, contractor/visitor management, patrols, and security protocols.
Continuously drive process optimization (FMEA, RCM, predictive maintenance, digital monitoring).
Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams (boardmen, engineers, technicians, security).
Foster a strong safety, environmental responsibility, and accountability culture.
Engage with stakeholders: steam customers, utilities providers, regulators, and internal teams.
Manage departmental resources and budget to align with company goals.
Support audits, inspections, and licensing to operate.
Maintain clear and effective communication between customers and internal teams, especially regarding delivery requirements.
Contribute to the creation of annual and long-term business strategies, including performance forecasting, project feasibility assessments, and resource allocation.
Take proactive measures to address performance issues and ensure compliance with HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) policies and standards.
Apply innovative and critical thinking to optimize processes, procedures, and implement initiatives that enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the organization.
Provide strong leadership and support the development of team members' competencies.
Qualification, Skills and Experience
Degree in Engineering/Operations (Chemical, Mechanical, or Energy preferred).
8–10 years’ experience in power generation, utilities, or EfW operations.
Strong knowledge of incineration, steam cycle operations, environmental compliance, and site security.
Familiarity with NEA licensing, carbon tax, emissions monitoring.
Proven team leadership in continuous process environments.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Comprehensive understanding of operational processes, safety standards, and product knowledge.
Familiarity with safety, health, and environmental regulations, relevant industry standards and best practices
Strong communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
Proficient in strategic planning and operational problem-solving.
Proactive in keeping up with new technologies and looking for solutions to optimize plant operations
Good team player and able to deliver results within tight deadlines
