Job Title: Technical Support Officer
Adventure Learning Centre (ALC) & Xperiential Learning Centre (XLC)
The Role
As a Technical Support Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and smooth operation of outdoor and experiential learning programmes. You’ll be part of a dynamic team that supports adventure-based activities, expeditions, and camps, contributing to impactful learning experiences for participants.
Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering first aid and safety support across height, water, and expeditionary activities in line with Training Safety Policy (TSP) and other safety protocols.
Assisting in the setup, facilitation, and teardown of ALC/XLC programmes and activities.
Responding promptly to incidents, including executing height rescue and evacuation procedures during and after programmes.
Managing and implementing incident response systems and safety protocols within the Centre.
Supporting resource and logistics planning to ensure smooth programme operations.
Participating in overnight camps and extended programmes as required.
Maintaining equipment and ensuring readiness for all adventure activities.
Collaborating with facilitators and programme leads to ensure safety and operational excellence.
Conducting risk assessments and contributing to continuous improvement of safety practices.
Upholding high standards of professionalism and care in all interactions with participants and staff.
What Are We Looking For?
We’re seeking a proactive and safety-conscious individual with a passion for outdoor learning and technical excellence. The ideal candidate will have:
A diploma in Outdoor and Adventure Learning or related disciplines, or equivalent certifications.
Certifications such as Abseil Proficiency Level 2 (SNAS Level 2), Bizsafe Level 2, Kayaking 2-Star, Lifesaving 1–3/Bronze Medallion, Sports Climbing Level 2 (SNCS 2), and Wilderness First Aid.
Experience in safety and risk management, group facilitation, and outdoor expedition planning.
Skills in camping, hiking, backpacking, navigation, cycling, and challenge course management.
Familiarity with height rescue systems and incident response protocols.
Strong logistical and equipment management capabilities.
Ability to work flexible hours, including overnight stays during camps.
A collaborative mindset and commitment to participant safety and programme success.
