Main Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate the drafting process across all project phases to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, accurate, and fully coordinated drawings.
Ensure all design deliverables are completed in alignment with the project schedule and within the allocated budget.
Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to the design team, fostering a high-performance culture and upholding professional standards across all design outputs.
Lead and guide a team of drafters and design coordinators in producing shop drawings, construction drawings, and as-built drawings in accordance with project and authority requirements.
Proactively identify and assess potential design variations arising from client changes or site conditions. Collaborate with the Project Manager and Contract Manager to facilitate timely submission and evaluation of variation costs.
Review and validate drawing submissions to ensure they align with design intent, technical requirements, and applicable standards or regulations.
Develop, implement, and maintain drafting standards, templates, and workflows to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality of drawing production.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and site teams to resolve design discrepancies, incorporate design updates, and ensure drawings reflect real-time conditions.
Monitor drafting schedules and resource allocation to meet project deadlines and manage workload distribution within the drafting team.
Conduct internal quality checks and ensure version control of drawings for accurate recordkeeping and traceability.
Facilitate drawing coordination across disciplines (e.g., architectural, structural, MEP) to ensure clash-free and constructible design documents.
Coordinate with construction teams to clarify drawing details, issue revised drawings, and resolve technical drawing-related RFIs during project execution.
Ensure all drawings and documentation comply with client specifications, authority regulations, and internal quality requirements.
Liaise with external consultants, subcontractors, and vendors to review and coordinate third-party drawing submissions.
Keep updated on industry drafting software, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the team's capabilities and output.
Manage design change processes by handling drawing revisions, updating documentation, and communicating changes to relevant teams.
Undertake any other duties as assigned by management to support drafting excellence and project delivery.
Requirements:
Degree in Architecture/Interior Design or equivalent discipline.
Minimum 12 years working experience in related field.
ID experience in construction/fit-out/building industry.
Prior experience in supervising or leading others.
Computer literate.
Highly competent in AutoCAD drawings.
Competent in 3D modelling.
