The PALS coordinator will report directly to HR, with any clinical components referred to the Head of Department, Psychology Service, for guidance and oversight.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
PALS Coordinator to oversee and provide clinical support services dedicated to improving workplace health, focusing on mental health and management of traumatic incidents through the provision of consultation, training, counselling and care for employees.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(A) SPECIFIC (80%)
PALS Coordinator
a. Respond to workplace incidents affecting employees’ mental health
Deploy peer supporters to attend to reported incidents.
Monitor incident progression and make necessary recommendations.
Provide supportive para-counselling to staff as and when appropriate
b. Provide advice and support to Management in areas related to staff welfare especially in mental well-being and resilience, and crisis intervention through research and analysis.
c. Develop policies and Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.) for Peer Support
Programme (PSP).
d. Oversee and supervise PSP members and PSP activities:
Contribute to the on-going development of PSP
Provide supervision and advice to team leaders and members
Provide support, debriefing or information to team members
Assist in the initial and on-going training of team member
e. Plan and / or conduct training courses, workshops and talks related to workplace mental health and crisis management for employees.
f. Plan and prepare budgets for fiscal submission and ensure that budgets are objectively utilised and within the forecasted amount.
In the event of a Civil Disaster/ Emergency/ Crisis
PALS Coordinator is also required to assume the roles and responsibilities below:
Oversee the operation of the peer support crisis team during the activation
Collaborate with Emergency Planning and Operations
chedule group crisis interventions where needed e.g. Defusing, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)
Provide emotional support to crisis team members
Arrange for operational and psychological debriefings with the activated crisis team members after stand-down
(B) GENERAL (20%)
Involve in other departmental / hospital programmes
Participate in research in collaboration with other specialists
Undertake any special duties as assigned by CHRO and supervisor
JOB REQUIREMENTS
(A) EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Diploma or Degree in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work preferred
Master's in counselling/post graduate degree in psychology will be an advantage
At least 4 years of working experience with 2 years in managing Peer Support Programme
Experience with a large-sized company and/or health related company will be an advantage
Qualities: Good communication and interpersonal skills
(B) PROFESSIONAL LICENCE
Preferably holding or possess eligible valid registration, licence or practicing certificate with an established or recognised Psychotherapists and Counselor professional body.
