Lead and mentor the QA and Food Safety teams.
Manage the renewal of relevant licenses and certifications (e.g., SFA, Import Licences, FSSC 22000).
Develop, implement, and maintain Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) in compliance with FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, HACCP, and local regulations.
Create and maintain SOPs, SSOPs, and food safety policies (e.g., Pest Control, Calibration, Cleaning & Sanitation).
Collaborate with receiving, production, and warehouse teams to establish quality control standards.
Plan and oversee verification/validation activities (e.g., preventive maintenance, internal audits, lab sampling).
Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints; implement corrective actions and root cause analysis.
Conduct supplier audits as required.
Monitor FSMS objectives and report on food safety trends monthly.
Approve raw materials for R&D use to ensure food safety compliance.
Conduct yearly Mock Recall Exercises, Internal Audits, and Management Reviews.
Develop and deliver food safety training programs for production and operations staff.
Maintain product specifications and Nutrition Information documentation.
Communicate with customers regarding quality or food safety requirements.
Halal Function
Lead and guide the Halal team.
Oversee Halal product registration, license renewals, and amendments in coordination with consultants.
Implement and maintain a Halal Management System aligned with MUIS HCA standards.
Create and manage Halal-related policies and SOPs.
Stay updated on Halal regulations and communicate changes internally and externally.
Investigate Halal non-conformances and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
Approve raw materials for Halal compliance in R&D.
Deliver Halal awareness and compliance training to staff.
Manage issuance and updating of Halal Certificates and Questionnaires.
Provide technical advice to management regarding food safety and Halal compliance.
Coordinate and prepare for external audits from regulatory bodies, customers, and certifying bodies.
Conduct safety audits and trainings to ensure alignment with workplace safety standards (e.g., MOM, NEA).
Communicate with regulatory bodies (e.g., SFA) regarding facility/layout changes or license-related concerns.
Manage Business Central system tasks: item approval, stock amendment requests, traceability compliance checks.
Plan and manage the department’s annual budget.
Perform additional tasks related to food safety and Halal compliance as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field.
Proven experience in QA management within food manufacturing.
Solid knowledge of food safety systems (FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP).
Familiarity with Halal Management Systems (HalMQ) is highly preferred.
Possession of the following certifications is an advantage:
FSSC 22000
Halal Competency Assessment (HCA)
WSQ Food Hygiene Officer Level 3 / Advanced Level 4
Strong understanding of food safety risk analysis and workplace safety risk assessment.
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English.
