Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of residents' physical conditions, functional abilities, and rehabilitation needs. 

  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments, goals, and evidence-based practice, considering resident preferences and medical history.

  • Provide hands-on physiotherapy treatments, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, gait training, and modalities, to residents.

  • Assess and manage residents' pain through various techniques, such as therapeutic exercises, electrotherapy, and heat/cold therapy.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based rehabilitation programs and protocols.

  • Educate residents and their families on rehabilitation goals, treatment plans, and home exercise programs.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution. 

  • Valid license or registration to practice as a physiotherapist in the appropriate jurisdiction.

  • Proven experience as a physiotherapist, preferably in a geriatric or long-term care setting.

  • In-depth knowledge of physiotherapy principles, techniques, and evidence-based practice.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality improvement initiatives in healthcare.

  • Be prepared to perform other duties as assigned.
