Job Description:
Develop and revise 2D and 3D CAD drawings for piping systems, equipment layouts, and structural assemblies.
Produce detailed fabrication and assembly drawings for shop use, including dimensions, weld symbols, and material callouts.
Interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and design specifications to generate accurate shop drawings.
Create bills of materials (BOMs).
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and fabrication teams to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.
Apply industry standards (ASME, ANSI, API, etc.) to all drawings and layouts.
Perform field markups, redlines, and as-built drawing updates as needed.
Support project submittals, QA/QC processes, and documentation control.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software (Plant 3D a plus).
3–5+ years drafting experience in fabrication, mechanical, or process piping environments.
Familiarity with water treatment systems (RO, UF, chemical dosing, etc.) and/or oil & gas process equipment (skids, pressure vessels, separators).
Knowledge of welding symbols, pipe specs, and material standards (carbon steel, stainless, HDPE, FRP).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and vendor data sheets.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, buildable drawings.
Experience with fabrication shop workflows.
Familiarity with ASME B31.3, API 650/1104, and other applicable codes.
Experience with field verification or working alongside welders/fabricators.
Associate degree or certification in CAD drafting or related technical discipline.
Software Proficiency:
AutoCAD (2D & 3D) – required
AutoCAD Plant 3D – preferred
Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D – desirable
MicroStation – optional but a plus
MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Preferred Certifications (Optional but Valuable):
Autodesk Certified Professional (AutoCAD or Plant 3D)
OSHA Safety Training (for site visits)
