Avian & Exotics Veterinary Night Nurse - #1111736

Job description:

We are looking for a dedicated Night Nurse to join our Avian & Exotics Department, providing essential overnight care for our unique and critical patients. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a quiet but high-responsibility environment and is committed to patient wellbeing around the clock.

Nursing duties such as but are not limited to:

• Monitoring and providing continuous overnight nursing care of exotic animal patients, including birds, reptiles, and small mammals.

• Assisting exotics veterinarians in the management and treatment of inpatients during night hours.

• Supporting emergency triage, stabilization, and overnight monitoring of critical cases.

• Performing anaesthesia and recovery care under veterinary supervision, including monitoring with multiparameter equipment.

• Participating in in-patient rounds and ensuring continuity of care through accurate overnight handovers.

• Performing diagnostics including blood draws, IV catheter placement, radiography, and sample preparation.

• Preparing patients for surgery or procedures and assisting with postoperative care, recovery, and discharge instructions.

• Maintaining ward cleanliness, including cages, brooders, and patient areas.

• Ensuring accurate updates of patient medical records and participating in client communication as required.

• Promoting a collaborative and respectful team culture to maintain a positive working environment.

• Actively pursuing continuing education and development in exotic animal nursing.

Experience:

Typically less than 1–2 years of experience for Junior Nurse. Practical experience through internships is valuable.
Veterinary Nurses should have 3–5 years of experience.
