Job Purpose
The Electrical Designer is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and coordinating electrical design drawings and documents for M&E EPC and EPCM projects. This role ensures that designs meet client requirements, project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory compliance. The Electrical Designer will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and other design disciplines to deliver accurate and buildable design packages.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
Prepare detailed electrical drawings including single-line diagrams, power layouts, lighting layouts, ELV system drawings, schematics, and panel schedules.
Convert conceptual designs and engineering calculations into tender drawings, construction drawings, and shop drawings.
Support design coordination with other trades (mechanical, civil, ACMV, instrumentation, etc.) to avoid clashes.
Prepare as-built drawings after project completion.
Technical Support
Assist Engineers in design calculations, load schedules, and cable sizing.
Review tender documents, technical specifications, and client requirements.
Ensure electrical design deliverables are in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and authority requirements.
Participate in design reviews, value engineering, and constructability assessments.
Project Coordination
Collaborate with project engineers and site teams to resolve design-related issues during construction.
Support tender submissions by preparing design drawings and documents.
Work closely with BIM specialists for 3D modeling and coordination when required.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity of all electrical design deliverables.
Follow company drafting standards, templates, and procedures.
Incorporate safety, sustainability, and maintainability considerations into design.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 3–6 years of experience in electrical design for M&E, EPC, or EPCM projects.
Proficient in AutoCAD, BIM/Revit, and electrical design/drafting software.
Knowledge of local authority codes, international standards (IEC, IEEE, NFPA), and industry practices.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality in design work.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
