The Role
We are looking for a driven and commercially minded individual to support the growth of our Groceries category. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans that align with our business goals, with a strong focus on improving sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction. This role is ideal for someone with 1–3 years of commercial. category management or merchandising experience, preferably in the groceries or FMCG sector.
Key Responsibilities
Achieve category sales, profit, and income targets by developing and executing strategic business plans specific to grocery sub-categories (e.g. packaged food, canned goods, beverages, etc.).
Develop, implement, and manage an optimal product mix aligned with customer needs and market trends. Participate in Customer Shopping Analysis (CSA) to ensure decisions reflect customer behaviour.
Design and implement promotional plans that drive footfall, increase basket size, and lift category performance.
Plan and execute planograms and placement strategies to improve category visibility, turnover, and in-store experience.
Support competitive pricing strategies to deliver value to our customers while balancing commercial returns.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers to optimise trading terms, secure marketing support, and drive mutual growth.
Identify and develop opportunities for corporate/private label products to grow category share and margin.
Manage inventory and ordering to support shrink reduction and healthy product availability.
Ensure timely execution of new product listings — including article generation, planogram allocation, PO creation, and coordination with internal stakeholders and e-commerce teams.
Liaise with cross-functional teams (e.g., Supply Chain, Finance) to support costing proposals, pricing benchmarks, and landed cost estimations.
Participate in contract negotiations and relationship management for key vendors.
About You
1–3 years of relevant commercial, merchandising, or category management experience in the grocery/FMCG/retail sector is preferred.
Fresh graduates with relevant internships or passion for groceries/FMCG are also welcome to apply.
Proficient in Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS).
Analytical, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator with good interpersonal and influencing skills.
Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure and deadlines.
Creative, curious about consumer trends, and driven to continuously improve and grow.
