Responsibilities:
- Interpret and translate customer requirements into clear internal work instructions, ensuring alignment with quotations, specifications, and referenced standards such as ASME, AWS, ASTM, and ISO.
- Lead and manage high-volume metallurgical and mechanical testing operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and rapid turnaround times.
- Provide technical leadership in metallurgy and materials engineering, including analytical techniques, testing methodologies, and problem-solving approaches.
- Liaise with customers to clarify testing needs, offer technical advice, and address queries on sample preparation, testing methods, and timelines.
- Act as the technical liaison during ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation processes, customer audits, and proficiency testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex issues, ensure engineering integrity, and support workflow effectiveness.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance lab efficiency, service quality, and testing capabilities.
- Support training and mentorship of junior engineers and technicians to build internal technical capabilities.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in metallurgical evaluation, mechanical/materials testing, and welding-related applications.
- Strong technical foundation in materials engineering and analytical testing techniques.
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory operations and quality requirements.
- Familiarity with ASME, AWS, ASTM, and ISO standards related to materials and welding.
- Certifications such as CWI or CSWIP 3.1, and PCN Level 2 in Visual Inspection will be advantageous.
