Overview
SPTel is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Legal VP to steer the legal functions of the company. The successful candidate will be a strategic business partner to the leadership team, responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, managing legal risk, and supporting SPTel’s business objectives. This role offers the opportunity to shape the legal framework of a mission-critical fibre network operator at the heart of one of Asia’s most advanced digital economies.
Key Responsibilities
The Legal VP will:
Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on all aspects of the company’s operations.
Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and management of a wide range of contracts, including:
Service agreements, vendor contracts, and employment agreements.
Telecom-specific agreements such as partner agreements, Master Supply/Service Agreements (MSA), channel partner agreements, and tender terms and conditions.
Manage procurement matters, both as a service provider and as a recipient of services from third parties.
Advise on and manage contractual disputes, working closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel as required.
Work closely with the director of Strategy and Business Operations on regulatory matters
Safeguard and manage the company’s intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across the business.
Coordinate the appointment and management of external counsel for litigation, specialised practice areas, and cross-border legal matters.
Candidate Profile
Qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience, preferably gained within the telecommunications or technology sector.
Strong knowledge of telecom-specific agreements and regulatory frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to draft, negotiate, and manage complex commercial contracts.
Experience dealing with regulators in Singapore (IMDA, EMA) is highly desirable.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.
