Our client is a Japanese-listed interior design and building materials company. The role of a Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for oversee the daily operations in Singapore, driving business performance, and aligning operational strategies with the company's long-term vision.
You will be reporting to the CEO.
【Responsibilities】
- Provide analysis, review, and strategic advice to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and executive team on matters related to sales, revenue, expenses, and overall profitability.
- Understand our design and build business, including its strengths and weaknesses, and work with the executive team to:
o Drive mid- to long-term business growth
o Improve profitability
o Manage business risks
o Enhance operational efficiency
o Maintain, improve, and upgrade certifications essential for business operations (e.g., ISO, BCM, BCA grading)
o Develop management strategies and plans to strengthen market competitiveness
- Provide advice and oversight on financial management per local regulations and HQ standards, including monitoring of cash flow and compliance.
- Support the business development and marketing teams in customer acquisition and the expansion of business networks.
- Provide guidance and solutions for challenges and operational issues that department heads are unable to resolve independently.
- Establish and strengthen business synergies between the company and its group affiliates.
- Support the localisation and implementation of our group’s global initiatives.

【Requirements & Preferences】
(Must)
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in any field
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in related industries, such as general contracting or construction
- Proficiency in both Japanese (equivalent to JLPT N1 level) and English, to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to understand industry-specific terminology in English, read design drawings, and manage construction operations
- At least 5 years of overseas work experience, preferably in Southeast Asia
- Strong business management knowledge, including finance, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in an executive-level role (in an organisation with approximately 200 employees)
- Willingness to be assigned to Singapore and to attend a training program in Japan for the first three months upon joining
