Job Responsibilities:
Perform venipuncture procedures using safe and sterile techniques, with a maximum of two attempts, and escalate difficult cases to clinicians.
Provide friendly, caring, and professional interactions with patients during the phlebotomy process.
Handle laboratory test requests, including order entry into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and scanning of completed reports when required.
Prepare and dispatch specimens and test requests to referral laboratories, ensuring accurate documentation and handling.
Manage the receipt and proper storage of laboratory consumables, and distribute supplies to wards and external clients when needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient working environment in the laboratory.
Assist in training new Medical Laboratory Assistants to ensure they perform phlebotomy and administrative tasks effectively.
Participate in hospital safety initiatives, continuous improvement programs, and community outreach activities.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 GCE “O” Levels or equivalent.
Phlebotomy-trained and certified by Nursing Educator through on-the-job training and competency assessment.
Prior relevant experience in phlebotomy or laboratory administrative work preferred.
Candidates with 5 or more years of relevant experience may be considered for a Senior Phlebotomist role with leadership responsibilities.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work well in a team and fast-paced environment.
