Engineering Manager, SEA - #1104350

About the role
McConnell Dowell seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team in Singapore, leading the engineering function on projects and assisting with tenders. With a strong focus on marine, ports and coastal protection, this role will report to the Managing Director SEA and with functional support from the Chief Engineering Officer.

Key Responsibilities
This primary objective of this position is to oversee and ensure the efficient and effective management of engineering activities in the business unit.

You will be responsible for:

• Working with the Project Manager/Director and/or Tender Team to develop and deliver the project engineering strategy for projects and tenders in South East Asia.
• Building and leading a high performing engineering team.
• Developing strong client and supplier relationships.
• Working with the Managing Director to ensure the best engineering outcomes are achieved in tenders and on projects.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Tertiary Engineering qualification.
• Member of relevant engineering body applicable to region
• Minimum of 15 years experience in engineering roles through any of professional services, construction or related roles;
• Significant experience in managing engineering outcomes on marine, ports and coastal protection projects;
• Experience should preferably include significant exposure to design, costing, planning and management.
• Ideally several years of relevant experience in other senior engineering leadership roles, with experience in managing people, customers, and portfolio performance
• Demonstrated capability in development of innovative concepts for solutions to technical and complex issues.
• Demonstrated understanding of local and international codes and standards.
• Self-sufficient, requiring minimal supervision.
• Strong oral and written presentation ability.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, organise and motivate others.
• Demonstrated team ethos, strong work ethic and relationship building skills.
• Make positive contributions to the business through behaviours that reflect McConnell Dowell’s values.
• An ability to speak Mandarin and English would be an advantage.
